Terry Bowersock has a BA in Biology-Psychology from Lawrence
University in Appleton, WI, a PhD in Comparative and Experimental Medicine from The
University of Tennessee – Knoxville, and a DVM degree from The Ohio State
University. He was in a private dairy/mixed veterinary medicine clinic for 3
years. After achieving his PhD he taught Bacteriology in the School of
Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN for 7 years. At
Purdue Terry became involved in interdepartmental research with the College of
Industrial and Physical Pharmacy. This collaboration involved research on
mucosal immunity and alternative vaccine delivery for animals. This work
resulted in several patents in oral vaccine delivery technologies. Terry has
served on the Board of Governors of The American College of Veterinary
Microbiologists (ACVM). He has been an active member of the CRS serving as
co-chair of the Veterinary Program Committee, member of Board of Scientific
Advisors, and is an editor for the Journal of Controlled Release . He was
Co-Editor, of a Special Edition of the Journal of Controlled Release,
Veterinary Delivery (vaccine section). In 1996 Terry joined Pharmacia Animal
Health (Pfizer Animal Health) where he continued his work on vaccine
development for animals. He is now primarily involved in evaluation of vaccines
for animals, as well as in the evaluation of alternative delivery
technologies as an Associate Director of Global Biological Research and Development
at Zoetis, Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA.
